Janaf is my band name. I didn’t want to use my real name, it felt too upfront… Hi, I’m Ian. I threw this site together to compile my thoughts and document my progress as I write and record some new songs under a new name in a new environment.
There’s gonna be some videos, blogs, political diatribes, culinary advice… we’ll see what happens here. To be honest, I didn’t realize one could just toss a website online for free.

Janaf is the name of a shopping center near where I grew up. Maybe you already new that. You try choosing a band name that isn’t someone else’s from ten years ago. “The Banned” was already taken.
I’m Ian, I play lots of instruments. I hate singing but I do it anyways. I write songs that disappear when my iPhone inevitably ages out. I went to Carolina for schoolin’ and live in Richmond, VA.
